Dear all,
We have a couple of exciting news and announcements to make:
- First of all, you may have noticed the new and shiny notice board on Clerkenwell Green. It has been restored thanks to the help of CGPS member Chris Walker, and a grant from The Peel Institute for which we are very grateful. The idea is to use the noticeboard to share ideas and ongoing projects.
- Four public benches of timber and iron have been repaired; four more benches (outside the 44 Clerkenwell Green Snack Bar) are set to be repaired similarly. We would like to thank our Society’s Director Ann Pembroke, B.E.M. OSt.J. for her efforts in helping to realise this.
- You may have seen the news about the flowers in the cattle trough – thank you Daron Pike and Erika Rosivatz for a wonderful job! We also appreciate that London Borough of Islington – after intervention by Ann Pembroke – has finally stopped putting waste sacks (weeping noxious liquids) into the trough, long may it last.
- Our efforts to stop vandals to fly-post and otherwise damage the telephone boxes is ongoing. We’d like to thank Robert Cope and our Ann Pembroke for continuing to convince BT, the police and the local council to do something in this regard. The goal is to convince BT to restore the two listed red telephone boxes on Clerkenwell Green.
- Finally, many thanks to Shane at St. James Church, for having the brick Garden Wall on Clerkenwell Green repaired..
With the various Covid restrictions now largely removed, we would like to invite all neighbours and interested parties to attend a meeting which we will organise shortly.
Best regards
Clerkenwell Green Preservation Society
